Just the other day, you came to mind.
But the details were foggy and unclear.
These same memories used to be so vivid.
I’d rehearse them over and over, replaying every detail, savoring each moment.
Even though you were gone, I couldn’t bear to let those memories fade—because I loved you so much and missed you so much.
And, sure it hurt to think about you but . . . that’s all I had left.
But the other day, when you came to mind, I couldn't recall a single thing.
It was weird.
I've been free of you for a very long time.
But now I can't even remember who we were or what we were about.
It’s as if you and I lived in another lifetime.
And that's a wonderful thing.
