I skied off a chairlift, rounded a bend and there he was.
I wondered what a statue of Jesus was doing at the top of Whitefish Mountain.
So I looked up the backstory.
Apparently, the statue honors WWII veterans from the 10th Mountain Division—some of whom were from Whitefish, Montana.
These veterans remembered seeing shrines nestled throughout the mountains of northern Italy.
When they returned, they wanted to place a shrine on their mountain.
It’s unexpected and beautiful.
And as a Christian, it’s a reminder to me that Jesus is with me when I ski.
And always.
